What a Cobun is

The official character page calls Cobuns the followers commanded through song and a Melodium. Their official Chinese name is 歌宝 / 歌寶. The community Cobun page describes them as Chorus given a Medama; that lore interpretation is attributed separately from official naming.

The official character descriptions name Prickly (Harigittan), Squiggly (Keroronpa), Hooty (Mimizukyun), Purry (Nyandola), Hoppy (Pyokorappa), and Beaky (Kamonelo). Mashuma and Buttonda’s current English blurbs do not name a Cobun type. No missing name is filled with an invented translation.

Cap, stats, and gear

The community wiki describes Cobun House upgrades at levels 1–6 and an older formation progression from 4 to 9, with HP, ATK, CRT, WIZ, and passive effects. These are community figures checked against the research notes on 16 October 2026, not a verified cap for every current mode. Check the formation and house menus for the version you are actually playing.

The official v1.1.9 known-issues list says a shop can allow Chorus purchases even when the Cobun formation is already at its limit. A successful purchase therefore is not evidence that the cap has increased. The exact equipment inheritance for a Cobun joining mid-battle was not verified here; this guide does not fabricate an answer. See weapons and their current level cap before planning equipment upgrades.

Questions

Why can I only hold nine Cobuns?

Older community documentation links the 4-to-9 formation progression to Cobun House upgrades. This is not a verified official cap for every full-release mode.

Do Cobuns that join mid-battle keep equipment?

The exact inheritance rule was not verified from the sources used for this guide. Check the resulting equipment in the party screen rather than assuming a loadout.
